Lenny Popkin Trio

Lenny  Popkin is making his second appearance at the Inntöne Festival this year.
He has been called, “A giant of the saxophone” by Jazz Magazine, and “A Jazz Legend” by the Geneva Tribune.
He has toured the USA, Canada and Europe over a period of thirty years.
He has recorded 15 CDs, one of which is a recording of his previous appearance at Inntöne. (“Lenny Popkin Trio - Live at Inntöne Festival” (PAO Records)

He is joined by the great bass player, Gilles Naturel. Gilles is one of the most sought after bass players in the world. He has appeared on innumerable CDs including several under his own name.
The drummer is the great Carol Tristano. She has been hailed for the beauty and depth of her sound, her incredible brush work, her solos and her original and infectious swing. She has appeared on many CDs including one under her own name in which she plays a full program of solo drums.

This trio has been performing together over a period of ten years.
Their latest recording, “Time Set”(Paris Jazz Corner Productions) has recently been released and was named one of the top 5 Jazz CDs of the year by the newspaper, Le Monde.
