Sharon Lewis is a transplanted Texan and her live performances demonstrate her extraordinary soul-stirring love for the Blues. She has been a vocalist for Dave Specter, Jimmy Johnson, Harmonica Hinds, Kingsnakes, Son Seals, and Johnny B. Moore, and currently has a band called the Mojo Kings.
Since 1998 Sharon has done several tours with blues organist Jan Korinek and his band Groove. They played at major jazz and blues festivals, clubs and recorded a concert for Czech National TV. Sharon and Jan released a
live CD in 2010. She will return to Europe in September 2012 to perform
with a special lineup of GROOVE, with guests from the Great Britain – Nick
Etwell and Osian Roberts and the greatest Czech blues guitar player Marcel Flemr.
Jan Korinek is a performer who never gives less than everything he has each
time he takes the stage. Sixteen years of touring, recording and surviving in the
music business ensure that his soul has stories to tell filled with the Blues as
well as humor.
The 33 year old Hammond organ player is the heart, mind and soul his band
Groove. He actually started his professional musical career as a bass
player, something which has stayed with him on the keyboard, giving funky, lefthand chops that even bass players marvel at. His music closely follows the tradition of the great Hammond organ combos (such as Jimmy McGriff, Jimmy Smith, Richard Groove Holmes etc), walking a thin line between blues and jazz. His main influence however is still the Blues. He has toured with various international blues and soul artists such as Lorenzo Thompson, Eb Davis, Sharon Lewis, Charlie Sawyer, to name just a few. Jan Korinek was also a
guest of several groups, for instance The Kinsey Report, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and he has appeared on numerous recordings as well.
Jan Korinek and Groove currently performs as a Hammond organ trio that is occasionally joined by Osian Roberts (UK) or Rostislav Fras (CZ) on saxofone. Last year the Czech Radio featured the band in one on its radio programs, which was broadcast online and is now available through the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and the Czech National TV has covered the band’s story and music in one hour long program.
Since 2009 he is a member of New Orleans based singer and piano player John Lee Sander’s and he tours with guitarist Barry Richman. In the same year Korinek recorded album Our Kind Of Blues together with singer Alice Bauer, Osian Roberts and Nick Etwell. In 2011 he started new project with phenomenal pianist Najponk called GROOVEKEEPERS.
Aside from his musician abilities, Jan Korinek is also a respected producer and
